About Me

Richard Mason is an American entrepreneur, journalist, TV personality and singer-songwriter from Miami. He is also a two-time award-winning recipient of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter annual grant for investigative reporting on two self-produced multimedia stories. One titled “In My Water” was about how the COVID-19 pandemic affected water management in Miami-Dade County. The second story, “COVID-19 Hair Loss,” explained how COVID-19 long haulers who survived the virus were losing their hair.

Mason started his career in television as on-air talent during the first season of Fox’s music competition show, “The X Factor USA.” The show aired nationally and worldwide; each episode received over 11 million viewers. Selected by the creators of the show to be the lead vocalist of his group – he helped them reach the top eight finals in their category. His mentors during the show were Paula Abdul, Pharrell Williams and Simon Cowell. For his debut audition, He produced and arranged all the music. After that performance, Simon turned to him and said: “I know smart and talented people when I see them. Richard, you’re a genius!”

Mason graduated with high distinction, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida in communications, specializing in broadcast journalism. He owns Mason Media, an American mass media conglomerate, and is the founder of MovieWire, a multimedia entertainment news brand, which he later sold to Qube Cinema in February 2023. Mason continues to work in broadcast news as the General Manager & News Director for independent news organization WRMT in Cleveland, Ohio.
